Creation
In 1887, Zamenhof published his first book intending that his new language bridge the gap between linguistically-isolated - and thus culturally-entrenched - peoples of the world. It was his view that the root of humanity's conflicts was lack of understanding; by sharing an easily-accessible bridge language, the disparate peoples of the world would be able to freely and richly communicate with one-another, without the implicit cultural biases in one's mothertongue.
